Only issue is the author's penchant for diving way too deep into the backstory of characters which you know will never feature again (since each volume is a one-off).

Nah, judging from the way she caught her at the end, Sphinx's echolocation is at least as good as the girl's. The artist deliberated between blindness and plot armor, and chose plot armor. ...Still a great story, but I wish the artist was more honest about how OP Sphinx is and stopped always pretending she's an underdog with a possibility of losing. (Oh, and this super martial artist girl can't even stop Sphinx from slapping the blade out of her hand, either.)
