It could be as something as simple as some big reviewer on YouTube is reviewing it. Thus causing some people to watch a show under 10 years old.

As for announcements, none. Supposedly, after the show was canceled. The creator created a comic series. Yet never push out the 2nd Issue. So probably some comic fans are getting angry about that.

Final theory, a famous porn artist found the series and drew porn on it, and caused some kind of trend on Twitter or something.
