However this MC I do dislike. Yes, but it's not like she turned him down in a humiliating terrible way. Or anything even remotely bad.

We didn't see if it went any further than that. So yes, it could have been spread around the school and had many people laughing, spreading rumors and making fun of him, but that wasn't ever shown.
We don't even know if that guy who tricked him was a friend that he trusted and would then feel devastated at the betrayal or if it was just a random school mate.
