While the FBI was busy dealing with whatever the portals were bringing them, the CIA believed all the paranormal activity indicated a new threat on the horizon. Fearing their interests at risk, they ordered all assets at their disposal to eliminate all such sources of activity.

One of the task forces active somewhere in Tokyo learned of Amano Hina's existence and decided to have her executed before her weather manipulation powers messed everything up. It didn't take them long to trace her and Morishima Hodaka to a beach. Knowing Hodaka isn't a threat, the squad waited until he returned to retrieve something and booted one of the guys to deal with Hina. She doesn't put up any resistance with the gun aimed at her head. Already annoyed by his friends, the booted guy decided to hang her and have fun while at it. He quickly built makeshift gallows using whatever materials were on the beach and tied Hina's hands, then used her body as he pleased until she died.

By the time Hodaka was back it was too late...The guy was about to give him the chance to leave, but Hodaka didn't seem like he would take it. Unfortunately, he overestimated his strength and was easily subdued. To eliminate witnesses, Hodaka was hung as well.

A Blackhawk was sent to retrieve the task force and flew off into the sunset. The ride home was slower than usual as the rain escalated, and hours later the gallows, alongside Hodaka and Hina, were gone.
