Just throw your stuff out for free anyway from the get go, and Patrons get perks (HD/printable files, voting on next projects and/or they generally get some sort of saying to your work, etc...).
Your stuff is going to get leaked out immediately anyway, in some cases like this even at a WIP stage (the new chapter is not out, these are literally pages from Aarokira's patreon posts).
People who didn't want to pay would have never paid anything anyway, and people who already pay would have done it anyway to support your work regardless of the work being available for free as a leak (because again, shit gets leaked immediately, if somebody's reason to subscribe is JUST to read the stuff, they'll read it for free when it gets leaked in a day).
This way you go for visibility in numbers, 99% are going to just read for free (they would have done it anyway with the leaks), but maybe you slowly accrue the 1% who has disposable income and an appreciation for the work that you give them for free into a wider base of patrons, and that's how Incase got to grow a 15k/month income.

I honestly, genuinely think that it is the only viable way to actually grow revenue as a creator on the internet, because leakers are always going to exist and the majority of those who engage with what you created will find a way to do it for free, so you might as well just pivot into it and base your business strategy on being available to the largest possible numbers of potential payers.

Sure it needs the maker to have a steady, reliable output because that is what will make you noticeable and put you in the wallets of the aforementioned 1%, and that's where most of the "I'll put out one sketch every three weeks MAYBE, you can't put a timeframe on art. DAMN LEAKERS IT'S THEIR FAULT I DON'T MAKE MONEY" makers invariably fail.

update: this is an ongoing comic. i post 3 new pages every week, monday, wednesday and friday. when the comic is finished, it will have some updated, redrawn pages, and 3 mini comics exclusive to the website version, so far, i already have 2 of these mini comics done, and also some extra art as insentive to purchase the complete version of this project. no idea when it will end. we're at page 50 this week, and theres no end in sight yet.

if you cant wait for that, then there's the patreon and fanbox where u can keep up with the uploads and you will still get the full story.

ps. i dont think ive ever complained about not making enough money, atleast not anytime recently, in fact, im making a pretty decent living. but i shall not elaborate. im not one to talk about my finances with randos, no offense. i dont think that will be my last angry comment either. ey, man, everyone has bad days, sheit
