I think Takeda-sensei was planning to continue the series but was torpedoed by new fanservice restrictions at the time that forced him to wind up the series in a hurry. I think it's also why he suddenly threw in so much crazy stuff at the end to protest the new oversight policies. Did you see the oneshot he drew afterwards about the young apartment manager and the cosplayer? That's what maken-ki would have looked like if he tried to continue under the new restrictions. It's not just him I think. Senran Kagura's development team also quit developing new games due to the new restrictions. I don't think Playstation made any new D rated 17+ fanservice games after 2017. And a lot of popular eroge companies have just shut down over the years since including GIGA, Softhouse Chara and even Illusion.

I miss this series. The anga was actually pretty good, Himegami and Yan-Min were my favorite two characters. I doubt we'll ever see an English translation for this omake, but it's good to see it nonetheless.
