In a hentai with a magical binding contract, sure, but in real life, a contract you can't read would never hold up in any court. The "small print" too hard to read catch you sometimes see talked about is another thing that would make contracts null and void, you have to be able to read a contract for them to be valid.

In regards to this work itself, does his vp actually say what the president has done wrong? just "you have been causing problems"

Yeah that's something I find really confusing about this one. Is the VP meant to be a villainous figure? It sure seems like it considering how smug and condescending he comes across, but the protagonist is barely capable of mustering any resistance to their new identity and even insofar as they feel uncomfortable with it they don't seem that outraged at the VP so its difficult for me to come down on one side or the other. On top of that, Shun being rez'd in this alternate reality seems to be a happy surprise for the protagonist even before they decide to marry him, and the VP's declaration that the protagonist is responsible for Shun's suicide (which she doesn't seem to have been conscious of) is the only thing brought up as to why the VP did this. Also the VP stealing his wife is kinda excessive lol.

But because the ending appears to be happy and there wasn't really any on-screen mindbreak or corruption is the takeaway supposed to be that this alternate reality is better for everyone, the protagonist included? I'm definitely putting too much thought into this but the narrative threw me for a loop in a way h-manga typically doesn't. It's bizarrely lacking in context!

The story beginning with the protagonist earnestly thanking his friend the VP for his support all these years before unhesitatingly signing the document he is asked to that allows his friend to turn him into a bimbo for the crime of "causing all these problems for me" has gotta be one of the most non-sequitur introductions to a TS revenge story I've ever read.

NOPE. Not a goddamn thing about what the President did wrong. If anything, it came off as a sort of friendly jest (the usual "meiwaku o kaketa na) kinda of schtick. I was hoping that we'd get more of an explanation, and that maybe the "you power-harassed your junior to suicide" thing would be a segue to that, but it sorted just ended up as a big old nothing-burger.

Your guess is as good as mine. I think some of that smugness MIGHT have been me over-doing it the TL, because the original raw is pretty formal about it. Well, I say formal, but Japanese is famously known to be a passive-aggressive sort of language in the first place. The protag's lack of resistance seems to partially be magical in nature (there was a line about him not being able to resist), but he really kinda just folds at even the slightest pressure. So yeah, you're the not the only one confused about the lack of context / the whiplash 180 tone flip in the middle. I started the doujin thinking it'd be a revenge plot of some sort, but that kinda faded away at some point past the halfway mark, and I just ended up finishing it because "eh, why not".

I'll pass. I do these for fun, and while most of it IS readable, I'm pretty sure my translation work wouldn't pass under professional scrutiny. Not to mention, CLEANING. Holy redrawing is such a pain with a mouse.

I'm not so sure "I didn't understand the contract because I can't read the language" would apply if you willingly sign it knowing you've no idea what you signed. Even if it does though how do you get to be head of a company when your willing to do things like this. I'm half inclined to think he didn't bully Shun at all just was more supportive and available as a girl so other people's bullying doesn't apply. I mean there's so many things in this comic that are just weird like the former presidents wife becoming wife of the guy who did this yet apparently being perfectly fine with him using her for sex because he doesn't love her?? I mean I"m not the best at relationships but if the guy your married to basically blackmails a girl into being the office sex toy (Leave and you'll be bankrupted by the debt I caused you to take on), makes use of her personally then whether he loves her or not is kind of irrelevant. If anything the fact he used the poor girl for sex while forcing her to have sex with every other man in the office and his clients makes it worse.

I guess like The Goat is Watching I'd just like the one doing this to not wind up getting everything and suffer consequences once in awhile.
