Beatrice may be justified in her suspicions towards Sophie, but her behavior towards Edward still crossed the line. The man clearly has some sort of trauma regarding physical intimacy, and she just steamrolled over in her attempts to capture him. If Beatrice was allowed to keep going, I'm afraid Edward might have ended up in a similar state to how he was at the beginning of the story.
