@Lushvale: Actually he stayed 1 year. And caregiver burnout is a real thing. If the roles were reversed, there's no telling if the wife would have stayed with him. However the husband did abandon his daughter too... Still, it's better than commiting suicide and leaving them shocked and grieving on top of their other problems.

@IngenuousDaemon Caregiver burnout is extremely real. In hindsight rereading I'm not sure where I got two weeks, but burnout over a year's time is very understandable. But if it was over two weeks' time I think it would be ridiculous and shitty, hence the comment.
