It's not like the younger the better. People like one character because what he/she is. Modify a bit won't harm, but when you modify too much for some fetish it may ruins the image, then result gaining someone with that fetish but losing more who like the original character.
For example: I often prefer young girl with small boobs than mature one with big boobs but it's not that I will prefer the girl (originally mature with big boobs) changing from big boobs to small ones.
Another example: you can make Hotaru with huge boobs 🥸, someone will really like that but a lot of other fan will not 😅
