I was also confused by the higher resolution images being smaller in filesize, so for the 5 people who may eventually read this:

Imagemagick has a heuristic that tries to identify the quality level of jpeg compressed images.

The higher resolution images seem to be compressed at quality ~96, whereas the lower resolution images seem to be quality 100.

e.g. The quality of the larger images has been dropped slightly (though the degree seems imperceptible)

Also, the lower resolution image has slight artifacting in it (look at page 1 帰ろう), so I would say it's strictly worse than the higher resolution.

Kinda sucks to learn I may have made a child version for no reason :/ No clue why the mobile and desktop versions downloaded directly from dlsite would have different quality compressions. I'll try to figure out the issue, if anyone knows what happened please inform me so I can hopefully fix it!

when the jpeg encoding is done with quality greater than approximately 85, it's very difficult to identify as worse than lossless compression. Also, the lower resolution images are clearly inferior, despite higher quality setting when it was encoded.
1. it seems like the image has some tearing artifacting
2. It's slightly blurry from being scaled down

I wouldn't worry about it too much, but

The dlsite page says that the item size is 101.97MB. Maybe this is the PDF?
