It is better when there's an artist behind it who's into the thing they're drawing, than just having some machine recreating the style, plus anyone can do whatever with AI so it doesn't feel canon within the SleepyGimp universe and what the artist had in mind, which also takes fun and excitement out of it. That's why most people don't like the idea of just training some AI on his work, nor believe that it would make him obsolete, it may look the same but it doesn't feel the same or has the same weight.
