And how does that rest bed work? It doesn't seem to be the VR itself with no disconnect, and it was STILL blocking out her senses even after they carried her away (there is no reason they'd return her to the bed for the actual execution)

Honestly the reason it sucks is because you're not a translator. It doesn't matter to you if machine-generated sentences look bad since you've spent no real effort on them. Someone with any amount respect for their translation skills would've at least learnt the surrounding topics a bit, but you don't have translation skills. Nor any of the skills required in scanlation.

It's honestly pretty good for an MTL. The typesetting could use work, sure, but it's totally readable. It would be a different thing if this was commissioned or something, but this was a normal dude doing everything for free. I wouldn't mind more MTL like this if it means more works are available in English.

Maybe we just need a MTL tag so the purists can filter it out.
