Uziga Waita remains as one of my favorite artists. Not because of the content in general, but the humor that is often (or always) used in his works. And I love really... REALLY dark humor, to go with visualizations and art.

For those who don't know, this is a twisted parody of a concept known as the Living Buddha (Daisoujou, for you SMT fans).

In this practice, a Buddhist monk was buried in a box underground, with only a bell and a small supply of tea poisoned with an agent that would, in effect, embalm him alive. Each day, the other monks would come and shout down the tube. If they heard the bell ring, they would leave and come back the next day.

When they finally did not hear the bell, they would exhume the body. The preserved corpse of the monk would then be venerated as a Living Buddha, a holy man who had undergone the ultimate sacrifice in the name of religion.
