There are many debates on this. Some believe that the baby could end up being infected as well, others believe that there is a chance that the baby can be born without any problem. From my understanding, even if the child is infected, he wouldn't just "end up as a rock" but would have a few black, hard spots like the ones who can see on Mudrock (p9).
