Judging from the structure of the narration, you aim for the effect of "mental programing". T.i. to create the most immersive experience, that could convince the spectator how "right", "useful" and "desirable" the content is. To aid in changing the mindset. Edit 2: Ah, the repetition narration happened mainly because in chapter 1, one frequent complaint was that it was too short (16 pages). So for chapter 2 I wanted to make it longer with more scenes, but focus was - to overcome Ashley's inner resistance and inner critic exactly as you said. Other parts to make it immersive were intended. But I did not realize ithe repetition could contribute in making it hypnotic ... quite interesting insight you have shared.
