its a pretty commom thing to associate dark skin with evilness in fantasy for the japanese(and to be fair, western too although to a lesser extend), i think it may be somewhat related to DnD drows as the reason, since DnD is what got several japanese into western-type fantasy in the 80s, but that seems to be diminishing, since dark skin(but not too dark) seems to be viewed as "hot" lately lol.
