I always felt the self impregnation being a clone was a strange trope. They would have to make all eggs be exactly the same along with all the sperm. I think the story was good enough though.

I was thinking the same thing tbh. I'm pretty sure they've done experiments on self-fertilization and found you can get completely different offspring just by reshuffling the parent's genes.

@Pangean The thing is, genes automatically shuffle when the egg combines with the sperm. So even if you had a clone with sperm and egg with the exact same genetic makeup combine, they'd switch around and shuffle the genes to produce the offspring. It would be very similar to the original, but still have it's own unique DNA because of that, even if it's only a small percentage of difference.
