While I miss his higher-effort art, too, it's weird to complain about not getting enough good free art from an artist. DA opens the Featured gallery by default, so why does it matter to you that he's become retired/lazy when his gallery only shows his good art anyway? I guess it shits up your feed? In my mind, his shitty edit phase is no worse than a regular hiatus. Each of his real pieces probably takes the effort of dozens of shitty edits anyway so it's not like he's still doing just as much art, right?

In the realm of autistic obsession, I'm impressed you've never seen a higher level than that. There's plenty of Lego enthusiasts and Chris Chans out there who have equally tedious obsessions. I get where you're coming from, though. Velma and Supergirl are especially unexciting waifus.
