An extremely early, exceptionally rare pre-Comiket fanzine / doujinshi anthology collection organized by Ryuichi Itsumi an various mangaka and novelists. While exceedingly mysterious in its origins, this particular imprint only lasted for 3 issues. Printed via early Mimeograph methods, this work has never once been documented/digitized. Many of the works presented are slice of life oriented, including the manga, essays and poems.

Originally sold for 200 yen, this text was managed by Ryuichi Utsumi (内海隆一) and Kyozo Okada (岡田恭三). Ryuichi went on to pen SF novels, primarily "Golden Coffin" (Chikuma Shobo, 1985) while Okada went on to win several literature prizes for SF works in coterie magazines. BL doujinshi author and June contributor / cover artist Fukatsu Shinya (深津真也) was also involved in this work alongside many others who worked in the coterie / SF sphere.

While a doujinshi, this is a literary coterie magazine and is considered to be an "academic manga" (doujinshi gakuman, 同人誌 学漫系) and was more than likely sold at select book shops, homebrew events and university sites.

Getting this as close to the original Mimeograph is ridiculous and a very disgusting job more or less - a lot of editing per page is done to match the colors as well as making the attempt to keep the linework as close as possible. I could scan it with the aged paper, yes, however, it very much defeats the purpose in showing the actual art. The cover has been left the same for provenance on the condition of the book itself considering. This particular Mimeograph used two different manufacture inks, it was a very homebrew job. As known with Mimeographs, they don't pick up screentones, so any textures are hand made.

はじめに (To Begin)
Hello. We are CHIMNEY. What is CHIMNEY? CHIMNEY means "Chimney." We are creating this CHIMNEY in the manner of saying "Damn it!" when you're frustrated, or saying "Gah!" when you're being utterly honest (even in the bathroom). This is definitely not a book meant to be read with formality. In fact, if we were given that much attention, we'd be troubled and embarrassed. How wonderful would it be if we could express (with pictures or diagrams) what everyone already has on their lips! We are the ones who take on that challenge. And you are the ones who read this, and then take what you've thought about and put it into action. Submitting a manuscript is also welcome.

ふだん (Usually / Everyday)
CHIMNEY is a place where we think, and also where we will continue to exist, in the course of our lives. Furthermore, CHIMNEY is also a group that stands on the basis of reality, which is difficult to throw away. We would also like to face that reality head-on.

CHIMNEY is where only the common people can laugh, nod, and feel connected, without sarcasm or cynicism. Furthermore, CHIMNEY is where we don't chase trends but ensure that the good old things are not overlooked. "Where are you from? Higo? Higo? We are CHIMNEY." (This is a play on a Japanese children's song/riddle).

If I were to build a house, I would not forget to put a chimney on the small house. Why? Because the chimney is the children's only truth; it is the only entrance and exit through which Santa Claus can bring dreams to the children.

In truth, Santa Claus brings us dreams every single day. It's just that once a year, he gives the children a big dream as a bonus.

That's why, if there is no chimney, Santa has no place to enter and is forced to simply pass by.

Therefore, let's install a chimney in everyone's heart as quickly as possible. If we do, love will come rushing in.
