Acquired from M on my trip to Hyogo in 2024, this book belonged to the estate of his friend who passed away, who in turn left all of their items to M. M entrusted them to me so long as I archived them for others to see. I've been busy with my other queue but have returned to this collection as its quite robust.

This particular group was based out of Osaka and were high school age students as well as early university students. I own about 6 more from the imprint that go as far as 1982 or so. Published on August 26th of 1978, the group had taken a big break due to exams and other commitments but had regained enough energy to continue their circle activities. This group appears to have been quite prolific and worked very hard for almost 4 years afterwards with publishing. Mutant as a group appears to have been a film club though expanded.

This issue covers a variety of anime and even manga though focuses on Devilman's TV adaptation as well as thoughts on Osamu Tezuka. Akira Kamiya gives a lengthy interview about being a voice actor and his thoughts - as M's friend was a major Slapstick and Kamiya fan, this was in their belongings.

"When I thought, “Let’s make a Yōsō-ryō no Gyakuryū circle!” a year had already passed. The Miyu-tan (Mutant) editorial team ended up taking a break due to my schedule and photo-shoot obligations. I remember sitting alone in front of the TV and thinking, “What am I even doing?” while all my friends were out having fun.
Then one of those friends said, “Let’s go to Nagoya!” so we drove off in a Mazda 7A on November 14. It was freezing cold but incredibly fun. I felt refreshed and thought, “Alright, I’ll get serious about Miyu-tan to again!” That’s how I got my motivation back.

However, I still haven’t finished all my deadlines (laughs). I’m now editing while listening to No.10’s theme song “The Man Who Became God” (Heinel’s theme), and since I have to go to work tomorrow morning, I can’t see the dawn today either. Anyway, see you next time!"
