The "promise" was if Ueno won, Riku wouldn't approach Moka anymore. Riku cannot see that Moka is free to still reject his advances regardless of if Ueno won or lost. I know a retard tried to weigh the stakes aginst "shonenshit" because sincerity is dead nowadays whenever someone is talking about stories they are consuming. Ueno "won" when he was comforted by Moka over his injured foot. If you really want to be as ignorant as those that unironically use "shonenshit" as an insult, then you could say there were no stakes at all. I know some people don't turn their brains off in order to act like it's cool to always be divested from what they're consuming, we understand and can distinguish the meaning in between losing a battle but winning a war. Not a concept any different if it's a shounen story or a seinen story.
