I’m so excited to share my take on this series! I’ve always been a huge fan of the author’s style, and bringing color to these panels is my way of celebrating their work. 🎨
I’m currently focusing on studying lighting and textures. If you’re curious about the technical side, I share my full process, color breakdowns, and my custom brushes over at the nest:
I like the cloth texture on the red sweater (page 4-5) and the diluted watercolor textures on the background (page 5) to avoid visual noise. I would delete the halftone dot-work within the mouth (or should I say tongue?) of the girl in page 1, given that they don’t appear in the mouths on page 2 (in there you see a more flesh organic coloring), but I ain’t complaining, that’s just me.
