i just don't understand the reason for your comment. the commission price is always the same whether it's already mtl'd or not. no one is harmed by this mtl. you just need to pay the commission to get a proper translation and everyone is happy. the reason why people still favorited and read mtl like this is because no one translate or pay the commission for the first chapter, so at least for now we have something.

lai099: Translators become infinitely less likely to work on something once they see it has already been translated. I'm not entirely sure why; if I saw something I wanted to translate/liked was MTL'ed, that'd motivate me to do a better job, but unfortunately I'm not a member of the translation community; can't read or speak Japanese. No one is asking for MTL of ANYTHING (for the reason I specified above), and the negative comments (like mine) that you see whenever MTLs are posted should be proof enough of that, never mind the fact that ~50% of English MTL posts are from people who are ESL and really shouldn't be doing any sort of translating into English anyway. As for downvoting your comment, much as I'd like to, once you make a comment on a gallery, you lose the ability to vote comments up or down; not sure why. Plenty of people have already downvoted you, though.

i've literally removed many favorited mtl translation from my list and replaced them with proper ones once they got properly translated. your opinion very easily proven wrong.

most mtl in here comes after months of no translation at all. this one is new, but the first chapter isn't properly translated after FIVE MONTHS, so the uploader probably just did this one too while on it. and some mtl here is even from raws that haven't been translated for YEARS.

your reasons for hating mtl are so random and baseless. if you just search for "mtl", you'll see that the original raws often take months or years with no one translating them.

be grateful when someone doing it for free. someone might do it free with mtl, others might do manual proper translation for free too.
but if you really want someone to spend their time to have real proper translation after MONTHS or YEARS without proper translation: PAY. SOMEONE. DO. COMMISSION. it's not a hard concept.

My reasons for disliking MTL are not random and baseless. I'm a native English speaker, and I can assure you that MTL Is not accurate. At all. I'll admit, I've played around with it because of the exact reasons you said (shit not getting translated for years), but I'm not gonna post the results, because A. I didn't do the translation, B. People on here don't like MTL, and C. I know it's inaccurate. They all read awkwardly. You get the basic gist of the plot, but it's simply not accurate. AI is simply not advanced enough for this kind of thing. Maybe in 50-100 years (give or take, depending on world wars), it'll be useful for it, but right now, it's not even close.

You're right, it's not. If I had anything to offer for bounties, I'd set them up, but I don't play Hentaiverse enough. As for paying someone, much as I'd like to, I DO have this thing called a life, and there are things I have to worry about that are more important. Paying someone to translate pornography simply isn't a high priority for me.

And getting back to comment votes...well...yours are all in the negative, while mine are all in the positive. I think that speaks volumes.

Finally, I'll point out something else: the 'rough translation' tag exists specifically because of people flooding the site with MTL. That should also speak volumes to you.

everyone knows mtl isn't perfect. everyone knows it doesn't translate properly. but it's a good placeholder until someone pays for a proper commission.

Define 'not contributing'. I'll admit I don't translate, but I do upvote and downvote tags as I see fit, as well as rating galleries. Do it all the time, in fact; did it for this gallery. I've also critiqued translations as necessary. Based solely on comment vote power, I've done more than you: moderation power of 17 for me vs. 6 for you. As far as blacklisting tags, I don't do that. Have to take the good with the bad; that and my watched tags list is maxed out.

TLDR, if you don't want to see something, EXCLUDE the damn tags in your search. i don't want to see furry stuff, so i always exclude it, that is as simple as 1+1=2, and i never rate or complain about furry uploads.

See, the problem with “it’s better than nothing” is that it’s wrong. Posting MTL is actively “worse than nothing”. Literally anyone could do a MTL if they wanted and view it themselves, so there’s actually no reason to post it here. All it does is take up server space and discourage people from giving it a proper translation. Sure someone might translate popular ones out of spite, but there’s so much MTL out there that it’d be impossible to replace them all with proper translations, especially for free. You say “just exclude the tag” and I do. Most tags I exclude I don’t interact with at all. But MTL does not actively disgust me the same way. It just frustrates me. If something is terrible, I will downvote and call it out. You have no right to avoid criticism.
