I usually don't jump in to attack MTL, for one part because there's already plenty of people who'll do it so I don't need to toss in my two pennies, but also because I get it, some people are just desperate to read an English translation even if it's broken English and trash and will just eat up the slop, so there is a demand for it... But just looking at the title itself, I gotta ask...

What kind of inept translation program are you using?

Just look at the original title: Suki Darake no Kimi wa

Even if you just have the most basic of understanding of commonly used terms, you should at least at some point know that Suki means Love or something along those lines.
Anyone who listened to any hentai and could hear the cries of Iku and Suki knows at a general baseline what the hell they're moaning out loud.

But that word is completely absent from the title you translated.This isn't even Machine Translation at this point.
This is the same as those localization that just bastardizes and ignores the original text. You should just classify this as a Rewrite and not even an lazy attempt at Translation.

Even Google Translate which is drunk off it's ass inaccurate at times is closer to properly translating it, nevermind using DeepL:
Google: I love the yolk so much.
DeepL: You Who Are Full of Love

At the very least Google understood to translate the word Love.

And even if we go by translating スキだらけのキミは, sure both translators are way off base.
Google and DeepL both translate it as: You are full of flaws

But that's just because without the presence of spacing it has no clear clue what were the intended word or phrase, so if you add a space and translate スキだ らけのキミは
Suddenly you get: You are full of love
And guess what. That translation is from both DeepL and Google Translate.
And it gives us some insight on maybe the title being intent on having a double meaning.
Neither of which your title tried to encapsulate.

So again... How the flying fuck did you get "You're Wide Open" When translating a title that has the word Suki in it?

it got front page on the funny numbers website (22603 likes as of posting), so you aren't wrong there. the dichotomy between people there (who seem to favourite even if the TL is shit) and the people here will never not be interesting. makes me think about the wars fought here if the average poster on the other site actually commented here

I agree that the mtl is bad, but the title while not hitting the double meaning as well in english, is not as bad as you make it out to be.
Suki can also be the word for gap/opening 隙 when written in kanji. Its ambigious when only using hiragana. Shows the issues of mtl-ing japanese manga that require visual context...
So the ai used that meaning I guess without understanding the context of the work and double meaning.
Something better would be:
Falling in love with cluelessness (as a very quick rando of the top of my head idea, could obviously be improved with more thought)

Sadly I already had this one on my radar to be translated.. Now I don't know if its worth bothering.
Anyone know if re-translation of mtl works get's any traction after the fact? Or do randos don't care at all for quality?
