Improvement on my previous upload: https://e-hentai.org/g/3839772/5d674afc09/ - Upscaled the cleaned version to 3x to remove jpg artifacts - Improved font sizing and blurriness - Replaced more sfx - Reworded some text for better flow
Thank you to @qazmlpok and @JeffersonTL~ for their feedback.
Some feedback in case you want it, the translation is ok, but the typesetting and editing can use some work. It's not too many pages, so it should not take very long to ensure the text boxes are smaller than the bubble and such. Some of the fonts look different from the rest in the same bubble or are blurry, I'm not sure why. I think you can do a great job if you work on these things.
Thank you for the feedback and kind words. The font is always the same, but it's blurry sometimes because I have to manually adjust the text by resizing it. The program I'm using, paint.NET, is really not suited for this kind of work, since I'm tweaking text size between 2 and 3 already, no real granularity. This also causes the text to be too big for some boxes.
Do you happen to know what software is normally used for this? Don't think I can fix these issues if I continue using the same one.
@dobuch You used the resized raws. The original files are 4299 x 6071, or roughly 3x the vertical resolution. Using the proper files would both make it easier to do typesetting and also just look better.
For software, most people are using photoshop. If you don't want to use paid software, GIMP is free and is more suitable for this than paint.net.
@qazmlpok that's what I get for just jumping into it, thanks for the heads up.
I'll be honest, this already took me 5 hours, redoing all the masking work sounds like a pain. I might try some other untranslated work before coming back to this, but I'll keep the tips in mind going forward.
@dobuch I haven't used paint.net in like a decade. I have no idea if it even supports layers, but if your cleaning was done as a separate layer, you should be able to export just that/those layers and upscale them. It might not give a perfect result but it should still be easier than starting from scratch.
If you just put everything on the image directly, but text is in a separate layer, you can try doing an image diff to create a new layer. That's a bit trickier and it involves a learning curve, but it's a useful skill to have.
Thankfully I had the foresight for that, yeah. Upscaled it to 3x and doing the additional work in Photopea now Here's page 3 redone: https://iili.io/qEjw2II.png
That look better overall? (Ignore me not pluralizing girl, oops)
I'm not a typesetter so I can't offer real feedback, but it is definitely an improvement. There's fewer weird text issues. There's some odd placement, e.g. "you're not going to die, chill", but I can't offer any suggestions on how to fix that, just that it looks weird with the speech bubble indentation there.
But the resolution is obviously better and the JPG artifacts are gone. It is absolutely higher quality.
