Also the fact that the wiki has this line: If selecting translated, an additional option may be ticked, to indicate that the translation was done by a proficient human translator (Not machine translated). Where the () basically rules out your clicking of the box. People wouldn't be as mad if you were honest about it, like the one guy who does pretty much exactly what you do, but still doesn't check the box since they use AI to translate, they just edit it.

So no. Nobody paid for it. And I never said you can't get a quality work for free. You just can't expect it to happen.

The fact of the matter is that mtls have killed enthusiasm and/or hidden works from good translators and groups that would have taken them.

Maybe the percentage of works that got mtls is way higher than the number of potential quality translations that we would have gotten but why are mtls acceptable at all? At least don't share it if you make one. To me, it feels like most of the mtl enjoyers simply have a phobia for the look of the original language and just likes the look of English.

If you don't care about what exactly is being conveyed by the artists then just look at the raws and imagine what's going on since it's probably about as accurate as an mtl's. If you do care though, then a mtl is unacceptable.

Posting mtls might be better than nothing if you enjoy it but it definitely drastically lowers the chance that it ever gets a good translation.

Let me be clear - I myself am in favor of creating "machine translated" tag on this site and using it, so that anti ai people wouldn't accidentally be exposed to the thing they hate.
But catering to the demands of the anti ai fascist is not the way to go.
