No direct examples of what changed besides the "brand", but the reader is supposed to believe that you magically reformed around that point based purely on your own words, where "tried different tools"/"asked people for feedback" leaves a lot more questions and none of the answers, especially keeping in mind your humble beginnings that were only a few months old at this point.
Besides, you were posting every other day for most of November too, so unless you're willing to insist that your quality was already as good as ever at that point (which is something little to no one will buy), then you were "improving" in the ways you were describing by ruining a good number of works (some with good art and 30-50 pages long, sadly) in a "live testing" format, which is an irredeemably bad approach to take for any normal human (but not for a brand-brained individual of course), given the logical argument of reduced chances of an actual translation happening afterwards that your kind always conveniently ignores or tries to spin differently.

So first of all, you're either dishonest or a total newfag and while neither is a good look, at least the first one would be on "brand" for you. Second, a translating tools user bragging about their "works" count that they can dump in tenths per week if need to (hardworking "brand" outclassing much older and more established players is always so nice to see, amirite?) is a big lol. If the goal is to try and attract more normies to your groomcord echochamber to stimulate your "brand" growth then that' would be the only category that could see this number circlejerk as an impressive feat. Others will instead see this as a reason why you've gotten to the point where you need to post this piss poor attempt at a PR improvement in the first place.
Also too bad the numbers aren't exactly truthful either, going back to the first point. Total count is actually at least 198 galleries on eh if you know what you're doing (it's definitely bigger given that some galleries were removed on copyright grounds). If we go off of your numbers, then before the first noteworthy work that you mentioned in the doc that served as the point of "improvement", you've had ~29 galleries (~23.5% of total) from the moment you started posting, but with a proper number that goes to ~59 galleries (~29.7% of total), which is a notably worse look for the total gallery count that you use for bragging purposes (also worth mentioning that both gallery counts are inflated with the inclusion of "text cleaned" works). Regardless, trying to use your lowest of lows (that weren't magically over even on that pivotal day day of 01.11) with such cheap manipulation is as dishonest as it gets.

People that you respond to are already smart enough to know that and they would never, so the usual argument of "just don't do X if you don't like it" doesn't work as well as you think it does here (not that it does all that much on average). The only point to raise here is the lack of financial literacy on behalf of those who buy into this "quality" of work that you do, then proceed to assume that they get their money's worth, when it's nothing but a smokescreen filled with almost exclusively typesetting. Good chunk of this money would be better off at the hands of the people who actually can and have been translating (and typesetting) really well for years at this point, too bad the "market" thrives on the financially illiterate and clueless people that you're happily taking advantage of, as is the norm.

Hey @2blahs. This is one of the only times you’ll see me in the comments here, just want to clear a few things up.

After reading through the comments, I’ve realized that no matter what I do or how much I concede, some people are just going to hate to hate. I already admitted to lying for months about this and explained my reasoning, including in my discord: people who use MTL or any machine translation, in any form, usually get death threats, and their work gets viewed in a different light regardless of quality (which is often assumed to be none to begin with).

I never charged for MTL. What I had was free translations that anyone could request in my server, and my goal was to eventually get through all of them. If someone wanted to move up the list, they could pay 85 cents a page (it started at 50). It was never “pay me today or nothing.” You could always submit a suggestion, and with enough votes from the server, I’d get to it. Paying was just a boost, a guarantee, not a requirement.

I disclosed my MTL usage, and anyone who wanted a refund already got one. I put in real time and effort, and I think that’s clear in the work and in the improvement from where I started. I do make mistakes here and there. As far as this response goes, I used AI for formatting and wording, I didn’t want to say anything that could be misread, and I wanted it to come across clearly and read cleanly.

There was a period where I was looking for translators. I thought I found someone, hired them, and then got alerted by the community that they were using machine translation, so I stopped working with them. I still got a lot of hate just for trying. That’s around when I realized that no matter what I do, some people just want to hear what they want to hear.

Some people did send useful feedback to my server, including about checking the “proficient translator” box. I’m going to start listening to that kind of feedback going forward. I probably won’t comment here again, and if I do, it’ll likely be to call out trolling rather than respond to people who have nothing better to do.

I have a life outside of this. I go to the gym, I’m in university, I do other things. For anyone who genuinely doesn’t see the effort, I’m not sure why I’m giving this the time of day, I could’ve just kept uploading the way I did at the very beginning, when it was genuinely bad, and not bothered improving. But I want to get better, and I’m going to keep trying. If people want to compare me to uploaders who just dump raw MTL with zero effort, fine, but notice those uploaders usually don’t get this kind of attention or hate. Usually it’s just “kill yourself” and nothing else. I guess that’s just how it goes.

Also, I have a challenge to people to find me a tool where you put raw Japanese and it gives you properly typeset, formatted translations including the sfx. Find me one that does that currently and I swear on my mother’s soul rn I’ll quit and never come back again.🤞
