I'm glad to see that Omaneko is still trending this year, even though the Omaezaki substation-base retired it as the official mascot almost two years ago after all the international controversy it generated.

I also recently learned that the original creator ( https://twitter.com/i/user/1651214961304276992 ) received death threats, which he thankfully chose to ignore in order to continue promoting Omaneko and Chunchun merchandise and arts.
