I'm wondering why so many rough translations have appeared in the last several years. I feel like the number exploded after like 2021. Is it due to AI?
@warellis Yep. So Google Translate has OCR (Optical Character Recognition) so you can translate images. So people started doing that but you couldn't batch translate things that way so things remained slow. Then the LLM AI bullshit started and could do entire batches of slop at once even possibly do the Text for you and since "AI never makes mistakes" you get raws uploaded full of weird hallucinations. Like errors that even Google Translate wouldn't get wrong. And people shoving the slop out trying to farm Hath and points because I don't fucking know at this point! Some even realized people would be dumb enough to possibly throw money at a Patreon (AI Slopper uploads here LOVE shoving Patreon links onto their shit) and expect to be paid for their "Hard Work"
LLM translate is way better than Google Translate. It is always the people who use them make it worse.
A person using Google Translate would still have to d editing because the raw translation is usually unusable. In able to edit, that person should know at least some Japanese to do so, which will ensure the quality.
By contrast, LLM is just too good in a way that the person using them would think they are good enough and don’t edit at all. Usually they don’t even know Japanese to make any correction. So you can see lots of bullshit.
