yes motaku is kind of right. i literally know because i know a couple of friends have had "casual encounters" on dating apps with one of my friends actually after a hookup eventually became a relationship after that.

however, here's my two cents on this matter. should the guy still chase after her? maybe. i think there's a difference between a guy or a girl hooking up casually and had no like, active closeness with other people outside of their actual friend group, and that has to be a firm "yea, we're friends, no actual bonds close enough to be dating" if the opposite sex is within that friend group. and girls and guys can be actual friends, i know, cause anecdotally i'm in one right now with multiple guys and girls just friends with me knowing personally with guys confiding in me about relationship matters totally outside our friend group.

the main issue is, we wouldn't know if the girl would've still given in and actively cheat if the mc confessed early on. if she did, then it's a hard no and bro should just give up. it's a soft no because mc didn't confess early, but the girl also seems literally written as a pushover, like most of the girls here, that they just gave in with ntr-kun there, so the mc at least would have a clue that maybe it's a red flag if i dated this girl. if there's a sequel and the girl cheated. yes bro should give up. not his fault, maybe get angry at her and him. but should also learn from this experience to be an actively better man.
