For the curious: yes, this is indeed by THAT Fujiko F. Fujio (of Doraemon fame). The vast majority of Fujiko-sensei's output was fantastical comedies for children, so to keep himself sane he also had a side gig of drawing these Sci-Fi short stories for boys' and mens' magazines. This is one of them. There are several collections of these short stories available (and there are a lot of them, as he was still drawing these all the way up to 1995).
