Seems a bit clumsy to write a setting where absolute monarchs exist, but then say "nobility is not a free pass" in this totally anachronistic injection of modern sensibilities. Why bother with sovereign rulers if they're going to act like these awkwardly tsundere subs, obviously alien to the setting?
