Actually Hinoron, the artist is often not in charge of the story. That is also the case here, Mancin actually redrew the story when he was in charge of his own work, in order to "make it more realistic" as he said himself. The first pages I've seen makes the father walking rather than in a wheelchair and he even got hair, etc. though the base story seem to be the same.
