This story is made by Scott Ramsoomair, who also does the VG Cats comics. Neither of these comics are "dead." He just doesn't update as often as he use to. His last update was on December 23, 2012 (As of this post). He is still working on these, they're just VERY SLOWLY being updated...

Scott may as well give up on VG Cats and foucus on this. And when SE is done he should end his webcomic career because for whatever reason, he CANNOT keep a scedule. The only artist that updates less often that he does is Recon Dye, who back in 2003 set himself the monumental task of adapting Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire into a webcomic. No less than three generations of Pokemon have began and ended in the time it's taken for Recon to get halfway though the story!
