Honestly I don't like it myself, but:
Having detachable arms and legs is basically the ultimate logical conclusion of a submissive's roll in bondage, or so it appears to me. You literally are at the mercy of whoever picks you up, and in this stories case, it's clearly her lover, and clearly something she wants anyway. Why is kind of irrelevant, most things sex related don't stand up to close scrutiny.
I can somewhat see detachable legs, because there are a few positions you could maybe achieve like that, but why the arms? She can do such WONDERFUL things with her arms during sex, especially if she's already using cybernetics.
