I read parts of the manga before working on this. Granted it's Drill Jill, but some of the craziness has to be attributed to the source material being rather wonky in itself.

The lizards actually look like reptiles in the original, though they are very anthropomorphized here. Also the "earthworms" are really part of the reptile race too, but they're outcasts with super powers or something.
