You know you have made it in Japan when they start making hentai of your show.

When the raw was posted, I had mixed feelings. Now that it's translated, I have no idea what to feel.

This is something that JUST started, and has barely established the whole story. Ye, the Huntresses and Hunters fight monsters and our heroes are training to do battle, but a second season (Volume 2) was announced not too long ago.

RWBY caught on very fast, but THIS worries me that it gained so much popularity TOO fast.

Idk. What do you guys think?

Eh, i feel like Rwby is very overrated... the only thing i like are mostly the character. The animation, voice acting, and script are all amateur and mediocre.

I'm just happy there is a doujin for RWBY. Translated too. Thanks for the translation. I wished Ruby's predicament to last a bit longer than that though.

@Chen
Definitely agree with you there.

Rule 34 strikes again!

@tomu-kun: Well, you have to keep in mind that most, if not all the animation is done by one guy, the VAs aren't professionals (they're all just guys from around the RT office, IIRC), and this is the studio's first made-from-scratch IP.

This is way better than the show, since I can't hear their terrible voice acting in a doujin.

@shingofan If I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure it's mostly animated in poser as well, so that really would explain a lot for it.

Why is there so much bitching about RWBY's Indie tier work? People complain that everything is so mediocre and lacking for a major production.

Except... now what was that thing I was thinking about like five seconds ago that should be blatantly obvious to everyone?

Oh. Right, the fact that it ISN'T a major production. It's freaking indie. It's produced by a company that has MAYBE 30 people doing the entire thing. Most major anime works have teams of 70-100 people and that's ONLY the animators. that doesn't cover the VA's or the sound assets or the marketing or anything. The end result is a company 3-400 strong or more

The show is made in Poser, VA'd by low-mid tier Va's and pretty much the entire script is written and brainstormed by a team of guys who do one of two things. One. Create animations with a bunch of chicks fighting each other with impractical weapons and abilities. And Two a series of webisode Comedy videos created with Halo characters.

Let's be honest here, this isn't Bones studio and it probably never will be. All you people comparing this to anime that are created by company's ten times larger than Rooster teeth need to understand that it's an indie title with an indie budget and an indie cast. It's not perfect but what they do with what they have is pretty damn solid and it has some of the greatest scenes of combat I've seen. Period.

On a more relevant note, this doujin is kickass.

Edit: Also just realized that this is the first doujin of RWBY posted on here. Well, my dear perverted brethren, FORWARD FOR GREAT JUSTICE!

@BackwardsHazard: There are a lot of reasons why RWBY is bad, and being 'amateurish' is simply one of them. Furthermore, just because something is Indie, doesn't mean it has to suck. There is a series of fights on Youtube where a guy uses Blender and animates stages from Touhou Project in 14 minute long videos. This is a series of animated shorts, so having a staff of even 20 working on animation is simply inexcusable to have as much clipping in a professional program as a professional work.

In addition, Monty Oum is a horrible director of fight scenes and believes way too heavily in the Law of Conservation of Ninjitsu. It causes our heroes to not look badass, but the villains and monsters to look ineffectual.

And poor script aside, even for animated shorts, it is basically three 15-minute long OVAs. We have about 5 stories that happen within the course of the show, from Ruby joining the academy, the forest, Weiss being a bitch, Jaun's character arc and the Faunice thing at the end. Pacing is a mess.

So when pacing, animation, sound quality are all a mess for a five minute short, how can you justify it as being okay because it is 'indie.'

EDIT: Also, this is not an amateur product, since by definition there are no volunteers. The moment you are paid for your work, is when it becomes professional.

Gespens makes very good points especially about pacing. While I enjoy the show, I do think it should have shown more of the girls for the first volume instead of focusing a good chunk of the first season on a whole storyline for Jaune. I mean, Ruby, Weiss and Blake all got a chance to show some backstory but Yang didn't even get an arc for herself and she's supposed to be part of the main 4 characters.

Someone actually made a H-doujin base off of RWBY...

Nice to know it's getting popular in Japan =3

@tomu-kun and all those who up voted him/her, DUDES. Who the fuck do you think created RWBY? I'll give you a hint, they created this little web series called 'Red VS. Blue'.

Haha, the "My panties shouldn't even be modeled!" line was great. I doubt that's the case though, Kerry and Miles seem like exactly the kind of people who would animate private scenes for themselves with their character models.

Not a fan of the doujin, but that ending... That had to be the most satisfying ending I've seen in a while. Also, I I'll be taking that 2-page extra involving Yang.

Too bad there isn't a colored version of this.

Rape, rape, rape.,. Why is there pretty much always rape incolved in erotic/porn stories(doujin)? The hentai pictures for rwby for example are pretty amazing, exactly because there is no rape(although there's lots of futanari... ?)
