An alternate ending to Code Geass using the usual fan theory.

People, I've done the research. He is, according to the original creators, dead.

Also, in the original raws, Lelouch's name is R.R. Just clearing that up.

As the link to the original site where this was posted is dead, I am unsure if this is the actual title or author of this work.

I apologize for the small image size, but this was the highest quality I could find.

R.R.? Shouldn't he be L.L. instead?

Probably just the usual R-L L-R thing with Japanese pronunciation.

This is a nice theory, but I'll stick with what I believe. Lelouch already received the code when his father grabbed his neck before disappearing in the World of C. If I remember correctly, Charles grabbed his neck with the same hand where he had V.V.'s code. I'm not sure if he gave it to Lelouch or Lelouch took it from him.

The code was triggered when Lelouch "died" and became the same as C.C. He's probably the masked person that was driving the wagon; thus keeping his promise to C.C. When C.C. was speaking near the end, she might have been lifting her head to speak with Lelouch, who's in front of the wagon, rather than toward the sky/heaven.

To answer TenRyuGa's question, there is no "L" in Japanese. Instead it's pronounced like "R". If you spell out Lelouch's name in Romaji, it would be like this, Rurūshu. So he becomes "R.R." or "R2" like the title of the second season.

Considering the ORIGINAL UNEDITED Japanese ending has Lelouch running away with C.C. (which you can find easily on the internet, just look it up people) this is stupid.

@blakfayt:

I think people are free to believe in the Code theory all they want. It's okay.

But there is NO SUCH THING as an "ORIGINAL UNEDITED" Japanese ending.

Only some shitty fan video edits made to troll people with something that was never shown like that.

The L-R thing is a result of them being pronounced very similar. There is no "no L" or "no R" thing. They know what a goddamn L is. And Lelouch's name is spelt with Ls. Thus, Lelouch's initials are "L.L.". Not that Lelouch every became an immortal, or did anything so gauche as steal C.C.'s shtick.

I don't understand the L-R pronunciation thing ! I mean, if it's L.L it'll be (Eru-two) and if it's R.R it's gonna be (Aa-two). Even if the sound is the same, it's easy to tell which letter they mean from that, right ?

On another note, I think personally that Lelouch getting the code from either his father or C.C is much more sad for him who chose to shoulder all humanity's sins. Surely, a human being can only die with all that he chose to bear ; not to mention that he had committed both parricide and fratricide by that point. The actions Lelouch has taken -without at first realizing what he was getting himself into- were to free himself and his sister from Britannia's policy, from the fear of being found out, and from the destiny that they'd only be used as tools as they were both regarded as weak (Nunnally more with her handicap). My point is that from the start, the wish that triggered his actions was one of a tiny bit of happiness along with Nunnally. If he can't get this, wouldn't immortality be a much worse fate for him ?

By seeing the end, I found it quite fitting that he and Suzaku, who chose to accomplish the Zero Requiem, would atone according to their wish. Lelouch who wished happiness with Nunnally (and maybe Euphemia by some point ? ) would die, erasing with him everyone else's crimes (including those who did them for/because of him), and Suzaku who from the start wished to die because of his guilt, wouldn't be allowed to, and would spend eternity devoting himself to mankind.
Strangely, I found the same reasoning in the official character guide book, so I guess that is what they wanted to convey through the very rushed ending after all.

I think the end idea was good, but it wasn't well carried, part of the reason was that it was way too quick, and hardly focused on the character's emotions and development.

Anyways, I don't think there is anything wrong with believing that Lelouch is alive. I myself would like to see the World of C where he's as one where people's consciousness interact with each other the same way as in the world of the living. This way, he'd be reunited with Shirley, or Euphy, or even Rollo, or Clovis, or whatever. I believe it is a much better thing for him to join those that death separated him from.

(If we get an R3 in the World of C where something links it to the real world or something, then I'd totally want to see it ! Though honestly, I'd pretty much prefer OVAs. The R2 was graphically very sad (and Lelouch looked pretty dumb on a lot of scenes), compared to the R1 (where Lulu had still his princely looks from when he was still one).

Lelouch is dead in Code Geass:Lelouch of the Rebellion. The authors said so in an interview when fans all around Japan began speculating that the wagon driver is actually Lelouch, which is not the case. The alternate ending you all are probably thinking of would be the AUs of the same series Suzaku of the Counterattack & Nightmare of Nunnally. Granting, both the aforementioned aren't as good and as impacting as Lelouch of the Rebellion, it quells the fans' want of having Lelouch alive at the ending.
