Reading that conversation at the end between the artist and translator really shows how the Japanese ero-manga industry is missing out on major dollars by trying to fight this battle about dealing with content online. I really think the Western artists who have embraced outside the box ways of getting paid for their work (Patreon is a good example) without having to worry about it getting disbursed widely is the best way to go. Unfortunately, to go that path would mean abandoning these publishing houses like DMM or DLSite which I don't think they're ready for.

It's really sad, that some authors not understand the importance of Enflish translation. There is no so many people, that know Japanese, outside the Japan, unlike English, that spread much more widely. Even in non-English speaking countries many people has know English at a sufficient level to understand manga. And most other translations, to different languages makes only after English translation, because it's makes from English.

And it is quite funny to hear, that unofficial translation is a crime, especially taking into account that in some countries just storage, and the more distribution of a content, such as hentai manga, considered a crime. Allegations of "illegal" translation is the last thing I would worry about.

This author makes no sense, sorry, but if you're going to only release Japanese versions for Japanese people, then it's bullshit you're complaining about other people releasing translations to people who you don't want to read it. By keeping it in just Japanese only and selling it on sites that only Japanese people can buy it, you are saying you only want Japanese people to have it. I've tried to buy manga released on DLsite and the other one, but my cards always reject my purchase for safety reasons for some reason. So I could never buy them even if I wanted too and I would if it were for a reasonable price. The only place i can read these porn comics are from the scanlation.

The part about how people buy manga even after seeing scanlations is true, I personally have read a lot of series that I ended up buying in physical form.

@~six~: The last time I checked, JP websites are weird because they'll screw you with either credit cards (most sites won't accept foreign Visa cards, for example) or by simply not shipping anything outside Japan. It's a shame because businesswise they'd make good money. Of course, stupid restrictions in other countries (countries that outlaw adult material as a whole, if not specific genres) create part of the issue. That said, the internet is a wonderful way of getting stuff around, and it saddens me to see someone like the author of this work dig in his heels. DLSite used to have a ton of content region-locked, meaning even if you managed to get the credit card issues sorted out, there was a lot of content you couldn't purchase outside of Japan without going through lots of trouble to trick the site into believing you were in Japan. You couldn't even view a lot of content from the Japanese version on the English version and there was no way to purchase items from the Japanese Version with an account from the English version. DLSite has improved since then, you can now view and purchase far more items there than before.
