Finally Meiling is portrayed a bit more seriously than in other doujins. A lot of people make her out to be a weak joke character when she is a powerful Chinese girl youkai.

Meiling is so cool and competent in this manga, this should be illegal. She only had the mistake of allowing Marisa to break the gate, which is very ironic because the name of this manga is "Save the Gate", so she technically failed at her job.
