Previously I've only translated League based doujins but I figure I'd attempt something different. Not a heresy, I can definitely agree why some would like her. She's tying for second place as my favourite with Hisui. Arcueid's first, naturally.
I think reason why Ciel is one of less popular Tsukihime love interests is two-fold.
One, is that she is "kinda mean". No more than average RL woman, but enough to annoy "my-perfect-waifu" crowd. Akiha gets free pass for being "kinda mean", since she is tsundere.
Second is, that if her Tsukihime h-scene is of any indication, she's not "pure", in that she was only heroine who after getting taste of Shikis "gentle love" was asking for more when he stopped on his own. (Kohaku gets pass for not being virgin since she was you-know-what).

that is my interpretation anyway.

As for liking Ciel and Arcueid equally... someone has to make doujin of Shiki having threesome with them.

I don't see a problem with liking both, though it seems Ciel got the massive short end of the stick route wise. And the whole Suppressing Roa in her ass scene didn't do her or her route any favors.

I think the "kind of mean" thing Mackus brought up might be valid as her true persona is sort of cold. I wonder if Ciel was the unfavorite or not like F S/N's Sakura.
