The problem with the NanoFate fandom is essentially they all act like bigoted, heterophobic assholes. It doesn't matter if NanoFate is canon or not. @uraha: Speaking as Nanya's friend (yes, we ARE two separate people, with different tastes and views on such matters), I can safely say that Nanya is far from homophobic, and has no issue with Nanoha and Fate adopting a child. His problem stems entirely from close-minded yuri fans who constantly attack and belittle the interests of others, to the point where they have attempted to get people jailed, purely for not liking their preferred pairing. Furthermore, Nanya's ban from the Nanoha board in AnimeSuki had nothing to do with the pairing, and everything to do with criticizing the direction of the second movie, and said criticisms were about an overabundance of focus on Fate cutting away most of the potential focus the movie could've had on the other characters, like Nanoha, Hayate, and the Wolkenritter (fun fact: Nanya wasn't the only one kicked out over it, and everyone else who got banned also didn't remark on the pairing and instead remarked on the movie's focus). And, no, her permanent residence is not with the Takamachi house, because, in the Sound Stages, Nanoha SPECIFICALLY mentions, while at her home, Fate's at her (Fate's) house. Erio and Caro both mention Fate's place as its own entity, not mixed with Nanoha's house. And in ViVid, Fate was with Erio and Caro after the mock battle and the manga specifically mentions that Fate's with her family.

All we know is that Nanoha and Fate are registered under the same address and have been "living together in their house and raising Vivio for the last years" according to Vivid, task that would be hard if Fate preferred to live away in an imaginary apartment instead of sharing her life with her family like we see in Vivid and in every other manga released in this timeline. @Nanya: The Harlaown's residence is still Fate's place, like the Takamachi (gen 1) residence is still Nanoha's place, adopting a daughter or marrying didn't change this. Not that it matters but I don't know if the Harlaowns are currently living in their Mid or in their Earth's house, but it's evident the author didn't put much thought on this, travel between the two places has been shown as something as trivial as teleporting in an helicopter in an instant. Fate's official residence is the same as Nanoha's and Fate's, but as you said she doesn't live full time with them either, and that's not even "a possibility", but a fact, she's a big part of the time away working, and even if it's not stated in canon I'm sure she visits her other family often enough, she's the kind of person that is all about family.

@ghost is bed - Sadly, I've seen this happen in Ranma 1/2 and Slayers before. Ranma 1/2 was so bad that it made a fan-author permanently hate Akane Tendo and said author (Kestral) is/was a HUGE influence on the Ranma 1/2 fanfiction community, so much so that most works that came out after he went full-blown anti-Akane was inspired by him. That, and others hated the bigotry the KotTF showed towards anyone who didn't support Ranma+Akane. The KotTF is much like NanoFate these days, but they were a lot more vicious. And in Slayers, well, it caused a fan-artist, one who drew INCREDIBLY sexy and beautiful artwork, to delete all their stuff because of the hissy fit they were given because certain portions of the fandom didn't like his portrayal of a fan-favorite pairing (never mind that in canon the two absolutely hate each other and only bothered working together because otherwise the world would have ended).

Yeah, it's happened before and it'll happen in any fandom that has any sort of pairings. The KotTF of a fandom (Knights of the True Fiance, for those who don't know), whether it's Ranma, or Slayers or Nanoha's own NanoFate brigade, act like SJWs and are a real drain on any fandom.
