If you're going to post the characters sprites, make sure they're rendered without background.

@alchemist: the original filetype was BMP and the background was black there as well. If they were PNG or other filetype that supports transparency I would have obviously posted that. If this is actually a recommendation, as you say, and you have a batch method to solve this please post it. Otherwise don't criticize without knowing the facts.

When the images are extracted in BMP, they tend to have alpha channels (programs like Photoshop or GIMP allow for view of alpha channels..

If you have Photoshop or XnView, both programs allow to get rid of the black background.

If I'm telling you this, is because I myself have cleaned BMPs that include alpha channel masks.
