It's incredible how Ranma is still getting doujins in TYOOL 2016. It's been nearly twenty years since the manga ended, and the anime ended even earlier than that.

(I'm not complaining, mind you. I for one am glad the artist aren't moving on to other stuff.)

It was a travesty that Inuyasha got more attention as a series than Ranma.

Actually is wonderful how Ranma still gets new material once in while each few months/years (there should be more doujinshi authors working on Ranma), anyway really thanks a lot @Viper-san.

BTW @pariah01, do you have really so much fanfiction of Ranma? I have searched but have not found much (not even a quarter of what there is of Naruto as example).

@psicomenace: I'm kind of the same as pariah01, but a lot of Ranma Fanfiction was before FF.net. I'd say see if you can find any back up of the FFML. Or try http://jusenkyo.wikia.com/wiki/Ranma_1/2_Fan_Fiction_Wiki . Not to mention http://stfan.free.fr/ , for all your lemon scented needs.

While it's old and probably not spectacular, I'd always recommend reading Ranma vs. Predator. I think it still has it's own webpage, somewhere.

I imagine that the main reason that Ranma fanfiction is less common than Naruto is a function of two things:

Naruto is overall more popular than Ranma, primarily because anime became so much more mainstream for western audiences while Naruto was new. And because Ranma is a *somewhat* niche title, what with all the gender bending.

And because it's newer, fanfiction was easier to write and distribute during the height of Naruto's popularity, simply because the internet had matured quite a lot more by that time.

My personal recommendations for excellent Ranma fanfiction are "Destiny's Child" by Fire (a crossover with Sailor Moon that takes that overdone concept in a very different direction), "The Magical Mystery Hibiki Tour" (loads of fun taking place a few years after the end of the series), and a newer one called "The Key to a Successful Interview" (a modern re-telling of the story, which is a TOTAL blast if you like this style of fic).

Considering TalesFromTheVault hasn't been updated in seven years though (and TheKeep even longer at 14), I get the feeling they could finally go the way of the dinosaur any time. I can't even find Fire's page for his 'Vengeance and a Half' Ranma crossover anymore (its on his FF.net profile). There are a slew of old sites that hosted little-circulated stories that simply aren't around anymore, frankly.

I'm glad that the stfan archive is still around, but Fan himself has fallen off the face of the earth, so I fear that could also vanish any day now.

Speaking of lemons, H. Saotome hosts his excellent--and more recent--Moxibustion Violation saga on AdultFanfiction.net as well as ASSTR. Unfortunately, the story has gone on for so long, he lost track of what he was trying to achieve with it, and so now it's stuck in limbo. But the first 20 chapters are amazing.

Since it was mentioned, I loved the Magical Mystery Hibiki Tour. The same authors also did a surprisingly good Wolverine crossover in which Ryouga fell into a spring where Wolverine previously drowned (before coming back to life).

I would also like to point people in the direction of Rowan Seven's Magical Girl Ranko vs Z Fighter Ryouga. It's an amazing deconstruction of the Mahou Shoujo and Dragon Ball genres using Ranma's setting. The title put me off, but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality.

To be quite honest, Ranma fanfiction was a guilty pleasure I partook of in my teens when I was far less discriminating. The reality is that 90% of it was shit--like all fanfiction really. But there are always some gems hiding in that huge pile a crap. And simply going back to search through it is a nostalgic exercise that gives me a warm fuzzy. I still wish I could have found that community in time to contribute to it while it was still active, but I was a few years to late, and I probably wouldn't have helped the quality any. As well written as the more popular stories such as Destiny's Child and Waters under the Earth may have been, I really didn't have much use for the grandiose story-telling with massive changes that make the characters age and morph into something else. To me, Ranma is a show about youth with characters that never age placed in plucky situations that entertain more than dazzle--although they can do that too.

The tragedy is that, nowadays, whenever I try to sit down and type up a good story in my spare time, I'm incapable of making simple non-erotic stories.

Everytime I say to myself, "Alright, I'm gonna show FF.net what Ranma's really about," I end up putting Ranma or Ryouga in the middle of a gangbang. I've been stuck in the hentai community for so long that I feel compelled to rape all my favorite childhood friends! GAH!!
