I agree that Rori's anime design is worse too, those ridiculously long cat ears make me cringe every time (regardless of doujin quality which is pretty high).
At least it looks like author gave her the correct set of matching panties (she's supposed to wear black lace instead of that pink bullshit they gave her in the anime) so points for consistency.
The reason why you get so many downvotes is probably because of your attitude more than what you're saying.

Manga Rori is legitimately better (War Priestess goth loli dress with frills rather than that cosplay outfit), Kuribayashi actually looks like an adult (and not straight out of K-On), Anime Lelei is better, Tuka is the same.
The problem are the side characters: Delilah, Yanagida, Miyuute, Persia, Itami's Ex-wife, Zorzal etc. etc. which are either heavily moe-fied, turned into girls cosplaying as monsters (rather than actual monstergirls) or fucking bishies (compare zorzal or yanagida between manga and anime).

Overall the anime is by far the worst adaptation when it comes to the LN or the side characters, most people will defend it because it's the first Gate they watched (for example, they don't know that Miyuute is supposed to be a blue siren warrior instead of that moe-moe green parrot they made her in the anime) and they don't know anything else.

The manga art has the worst out of the adaptions. It looks like it was meant for a comedic manga instead. The light novel has the best art by Kurojishi.

TBH, what I hated more of the anime wasn't just the fact that they redesigned and even RUINED many of my favorite characters (Persia, Delilah and Rory got ruined. So I have no hopes for Giselle or the Monster Girl Streetwalkers to survive the redesign...) but the fact they nerfed all of that cool gory combat it had.

One of the scenes I was looking forwards the most was to see Kuri kick the royal crap out of Zorzal in that Berserk-worthy curbstomping manner! And what do we got? Just a punch with a flying tooth; that's that. Seriously, of all the stuff out there that's all gory, why did they had to make this one all ''Family Friendly'', bleh....
