The cat transforms into the thing but it's like an April fool's joke or false ending or something weird like that. It was actually pretty funny.

The cat being possesed by a slug, I think that it was an April fool´s joke based on the after credits scene from Slither, that parasite slug movie made by James Gunn. The thing is that Psi never draw a continuation so that joke became canon.
