Fully animated gallery. The GIFs are manually assembled from source frames.
The source filenames do not follow any logical order and a reorder would require each GIF to be individually renamed. Renaming 100 GIFs creatively is not practical so the gallery is left unordered.

Like @Kelsero said, this is indeed just the way GIFs work. In this case, the original frame images were in PNG format and had transparent backgrounds. However, the GIF format does not really support transparency in that it only allows solid color and full transparency i.e. no alpha channel; when the source frames are made into GIFs, the original PNGs will lose the degree of transparency and the smooth edges will become rough black edges that are highly visible. A black background (instead of any other color) is then necessary as it can hide these ugly edges.

In general, removing alpha and setting the background to black avoids most transparency issues. A black background also usually gives the best contrast and ensures everything is visible.
