It's interesting from time to time to see authors take a stab at what the larger KanColle world might look like in terms of the political, economic and moral environments. Naturally most of the stuff is pretty purely "on base" (or on mission) but this is nice too, and Cosmic struck a nice balance as well between treating it a bit more seriously but not going full grimdark either.
@constantly Agreed! The typical lighter humor approach is fun, but it's good to have some balance sometimes too.
@smoothoperator I don't think that's it. Nagato faces a complex situation given the memories and shared experience are mostly gone and that she's still an active soldier at war and real Nagato takes her duty very seriously. Whereas "Mirai" (future) is now a civilian with her own life to live, and I guess they're planning on constructing a replacement Mutsu too (however that works for this author).
