Speaking to the scenario itself, Araragi's Hanekawa worship is so weird and ill-defined (and I think Nisio intends that). Like he wants to fuck her, but he won't allow himself to actually fuck her; he loves her deeply, but he doesn't want to date her; he'll prioritize her above his girlfriend, but rejects her when asked out. By the end of Nekomonogatari Shiro he basically establishes her place in his life second only to Shinobu.
So yeah, he probably thinks about her while walking Ghara home gently.

rozzak: this is actually why I've never liked Nisio Isin's handling of his and Senjougahara's relationship. For me, his adoration of Shinobu and Hanekawa cheapens his love for Senjougahara.
